Definition: The YAGA Project is a detached youth sports work project. Detached youth work is a method of engaging with young people on their own territory, e.g. on the streets, waste ground, open space etc.

Targeted Approach: The YAGA staff team are employed to work with young people aged 11 – 17 years.

Characteristics of the YAGA project: The YAGA staff team offer groups and individuals opportunities to engage in sport and physical activities, informal education and learning opportunities. The YAGA staff team rely on the voluntary involvement of young people, they do not make the young people work with them, they do not tell young people to go home at a certain time, they do not supervise or work with children playing on South Street Rec and they do not police young people or move them on.

Time: The summer timetable of work for the YAGA staff team has now been set. Please note that these times are subject to change with the weather and for training purposes. Monday 4-7pm, Wednesday 4-6.15pm, Thursday 4-7pm.
